Wonderland: Chapter 2, Further Down the Rabbit Hole
We hope you enjoyed our Alice Bridal Blog. We couldn't leave our enchanted wonderland behind without exploring our theme a little further. We wanted to get as much variety from our shoot as we could and we knew we would have so much fun with a non-bridal look as well.
Our team changed up the models hair and makeup to an edgier look. Deanna gave Demarie a more dramatic, slightly Tim Burton-esque makeup. She exaggerated the lip and added lower lashes that gave her makeup a very mysterious and high fashion look. Maddie tucked her hair to the side to give her a cool faux bob. On Brooklyn, Brittany took her hair down for a loose, more casual feel. Ami had done a wonderful job on Brooklyn's make-up and the only change we made was that Deanna added some eyeslashes for that part of the shoot.
Can we talk about these fantasy nails on Brooklyn for a second?! These were completely bonkers, mad I tell you and we loved them! Jessica from Ohh Nice Nails completely outdid herself!
Brooklyn's dress had a very "Alice" vibe going on. It was simple and sweet, just perfect for an afternoon tea party. It was a find from H&M. The flowy floral dress was from Akira.
We wanted Alice to have a modern feel and were thrilled to find clothing to be worn in today's world, like this low v-cut sexy romper with the playful gingham pattern from T.J.Maxx. It fit Demarie perfectly. The necklace from Brad's Design & Jewelry was the perfect accessory. We also loved the bracelets, earrings and wedding band. It was the perfect little detail to finish the look.
We didn't have to look far for some flamingo's ... Carmen's in laws had them right in their garage. (See below for the dedication for this blog post.)
If the blush bridal gown looks familiar, it's because it's Maddie's wedding dress that she so generously let us use for this shoot. Another stunning gown purchased from Something Blue Bridal and one of our all time favorites. In our dream worlds fairytales run together and we are never just into one thing. Demarie looks like Sleeping Beauty and like she actually lives there, reading and sleeping in the woods.
This was the perfect opportunity for us to use some of our smoke bombs again. The smoke weaving through the trees was so mysterious looking. It's as if Absolem, the hookah smoking caterpillar, joined the party!
How fitting is it that later on the hour and the minute hands of the clock nail fell off, since there really is no keeping time in Wonderland!
In the end, we did not want to leave our secret spot or take anything down. We wished we could have lingered longer in the woods and curled up with one of our fairytale books. But just like any good dream, it's over too soon.
We dedicate the Wonderland shoot and blog posts to our late friend, Annie. She was a dear lifelong friend to Katherine, Carmen's mother-in-law, and a big supporter of our photography. Katherine and Annie were part of the Flamingo group - a group of close friends who would occasionally flamingo each other's front yards secretly during the night. It was always a surprise when they were discovered the next morning. Annie is dearly missed!
Thank you to everyone who made this dream vendor collaboration a reality!
Special Thanks to our friend Charlyn from Charlyns Floral who helped us style the set and all of her gorgeous flowers and bouquets. Without those our Wonderland would've never had the same magical feeling.
