Courtney in Wonderland

Courtney in Wonderland

I was visiting the Monarch store in Schererville where Courtney's Mom, Michelle, works when she asked me about doing Courtney's senior pictures.  Of course I said we'd love to and we were ecstatic for the opportunity to incorporate some of the beautiful items from the Monarch store.

I had Michelle describe Courtney's personality and style to me and I knew we'd be a great fit.  She said she's really casual and sweet, loves the outdoors and wanted something in nature.

I had my eye on this amazing chair in the store that was a beautiful shape and covered in moss.  Just the sort whimsical chair that Carmen and I love.  Michelle also loved the chair and was more than happy to bring it along to the shoot.  Michelle also picked out some beautiful hydrangeas, a pretty cube/table covered in sticks, a clover shaped mirror and these gorgeous little butterflies.  All from Monarch.

When we found out that Courtney had this beautiful long blonde hair and blue eyes, it started to feel just slightly a little Alice in Wonderland(ish).  So I grabbed a vintage tea pot and tea cup and one of our favorite hats.  Why not, right?

We never want to be too literal with our inspirations and always love a touch of whimsy.  We wanted to keep the focus on Courtney and give her a variety of looks.

We headed to a sweet little apple orchard called Mowry's Fruit Farm in Crown Point which served as our enchanted scene.  We like to add a little pop of red here and there and the apples were perfect and abundant.  We explored the property for a while and then headed to a second location to give the photos a little bit of a different feel.

We love the dreamy, fresh feel to this shoot and Courtney was so sweet and fun to work with.  The collaboration between all of us was a match made in wonderland.

P.S. Monarch provides beautiful flowers for all occassions and we are always excited when a brides hires Monarch to do their wedding flowers! www.monarchgiving.net
